David Treatman Creative Mourns the Loss of Ed Asner

It is with deep sadness that everyone at David Treatman Creative mourn the loss of Ed Asner. As the heart and soul of The Soap Myth, Ed had a large impact on David Treatman and the rest of the team involved in the play.

From the playwright, Jeff Cohen: "Ed’s brilliance as an artist was only a small part of this wonderful human being who I came to love as a member of my family. Touring the country we sometimes had to drive 5 hours to the next city – I’d be behind the wheel and Ed would be shotgun next to me regaling me with incredible stories, irreverent wit and keen intelligence. In three years he bestowed upon me a lifetime of great memories."

David Treatman, speaking of memories from the Williamstown Theatre Festival, recounts: "Ed was a force of nature and incredibly sharp and funny. He brought thunderous energy to the role of Milton. We had several conversations about his Yiddishkite upbringing, Jewish humor, and regrets. It was a blessing having him impact my world-view."

Jeff Cohen would like to encourage everyone to go watch Ed's performance in The Soap Myth, as captured by PBS All Arts, to witness Ed's brilliance and power in the role.
